English scientist who was known as a naturalist and co-founded the Society of Arts in 1754. He also helped start the Universal Spectator and Weekly Journal in 1728 under the name Henry Stonecastle.
Before Fame
He worked as a therapist in the 1720s and was elected fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and of the Royal Society in 1740.
Trivia
He contributed many of his memoirs to the Transactions of the Royal Society.

He married Sophia Defoe in 1729.
