Before Fame
He grew up having a love for filmmaking and films. He studied at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts before he directed and filmed the short-film Crabwalk in 2005. His first professional full-length project was working as the cinematographer for the film Hamilton (2006). He released his first feature film, Murder Party in 2007. He wrote and directed this film which featured his childhood friend Macon Blair.

He was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. He was born to parents Ed and Karen Saulnier. He married actress and producer Skei Saulnier in 2002. They have three children together.
