Before Fame

Of the dozens of television and film credits she has amassed over the course of her decades-long career, her most noteworthy role was that in which she debuted. She launched her professional acting career in 1987, portraying the tragic life and eventual death of her character Donna Ludlow in several seasons of the long-running British soap opera EastEnders

In addition to film and television, she performed in stage productions such as Twelfth Night with the Royal Shakespeare Company, An Inspector Calls, and The School for Scandal. She also performed on radio series including Rigor Mortis and Cabin Pressure. 

Family Life

She married fellow actor Louis Hilyer in July of 2004. Together, they have 3 children, named Evie Joy, Faye Berry, and Herbert Carl. Her brother, Dominic Ziegler, is a journalist and the Japan bureau chief for the weekly British newspaper, The Economist.
