Slovenian-Croatian artist who became known for his abstract paintings of stone walls. He was awarded the Vladimir Nazor Award for lifetime achievement in 1977.
He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. He was instructed by such notables as Maksimilijan Vanka, Tomislav Krizman, and Ljubo Babić.
He painted landscapes and still lifes.
He married Mila Kumbatovic, a fellow student at the Academy of Fine Arts.
He was greatly influenced by the work of Paul Cezanne.
