Classical musician who was named an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2012 for his contributions to the performing arts.
He graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music with a Medal of Excellence.
He was awarded Best Australian Pianist in 1977 when he appeared in the first Sydney International Piano Competition.
His parents met while both were auditioning at the Royal College of Music for the piano program.
He served as the Artistic Director for the National Gallery in London's annual Myra Hess Day.
