Weightlifter from India who has achieved remarkable success in the Women's 49 kg category at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, earning a silver medal. Additionally, she has won numerous medals at the Commonwealth Games and was crowned World Champion. Her most significant achievement prior to the 2020 Summer Olympics occurred in Anaheim, California in 2017, where she won the gold medal at the World Weightlifting Championships. 

Before Fame

At the age of 12, her family recognized her physical prowess. While her elder brother struggled to lift a large bundle of firewood, she could effortlessly carry it home, showcasing her impressive strength.

Saikhom made history in June 2021 by becoming the sole Indian female weightlifter to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics. Her mirabai_chanu Twitter account has amassed 430,000 followers.

She was born in Nongpok Kakching. She is the youngest of six siblings.
